day 31

Every morning, I get up and I review the day from before. I walk through the day in my mind and I look for the bright spots. Those moments of grace. Those gifts that God places there. Really, all is grace. I’m just not always aware of it, or grateful for it. This practice, this exercise of gratitude first thing in the morning, has changed my life. It gives me a lens through which I see my day. I can honestly say, I’m happier when I’m practicing gratitude. I’m learning to find joy, in all things. I pray this practice has blessed you as it has blessed me.

(For Friday 5/22)

  1. Listen to “Smile” by the Sidewalk Prophets and do something to put yourself together physically (work out for a few minutes, put on real pants, take a shower, etc).
  2. Be still and play the tape of yesterday in your mind. Go through the day and look for the gifts that God put there for you. Write down 3 things that you’re thankful for.
  3. Share at least 1 with your group.

day 30

(For Thursday 5/21)

“I don’t have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness – it’s right in front of me if I’m paying attention and practicing gratitude.” -Brene Brown

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more…it can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie

  1. Write down one of the above quotes and put it somewhere you’ll run into often during your day.
  2. List 3 people or things that inspire you and why.
  3. Share at least 1 with your group.
  4. Bonus points if you let those people know that they inspire you.
